Practical training was given to second-year students of our Vocational School's Forestry and Forest Products program within the Forestry Department by the personnel of the Vezirköprü Forest Management Directorate as part of the "Field Applications Course."
The training, conducted as a drill in our Vocational School's garden on March 11, 2025, was attended by Head of the Forestry Department Lecturer Dr. Cemile ÇAKIR, the department students, and Oğuzhan Cindoruk, Chief of the Vezirköprü Forest Management Directorate Center, along with his team, to deliver the training.
During the training, the fire tender (arazöz) and fire workers' clothing, along with the tools used in fighting fires, were introduced. Students were given practical extinguishing training, emphasizing the importance of the fire tender in initial fire response. Information was provided to students regarding fire safety roads and fire ponds located in fire-sensitive areas. It was shared with the students that fire observation towers carry out 24/7 surveillance during the fire season and play an effective role in the initial response. Subsequently, students were informed about biological and biotechnical control methods used against forest pests.
We thank the Vezirköprü Forest Management Directorate and its personnel for their support and efforts in realizing this training.
