Students of our Vocational School enhanced their social awareness while providing benefit to the community through numerous meaningful activities organized as part of the Social Responsibility Projects course during the 2024–2025 Academic Year Spring Semester. The events, carried out under the advisement of Asst. Prof. Dr. Gonca Özdemir Tarı, also received support from Entrepreneurship course students with a social entrepreneurship perspective. Thanks to the projects carried out, our environment became cleaner, animals happier, and our spaces more beautiful. The main activities conducted throughout the semester were:
1. The environmental cleanup activity started in the school garden and continued around the mosque and dormitory. Students, along with their instructors, put on gloves to collect trash and separate recyclable materials. Dozens of bags of trash were collected during the approximately three-hour event. The environmental cleanup activity, organized as part of the Social Responsibility course, both protected nature and set an example for the community.
2. A large number of students participated in the book reading event held in the school garden. Students gathered in the designated area with the books they brought and engaged in silent reading for 1 hour. The importance of the love of books and the habit of reading was emphasized throughout the event.
3. A group of students organized a street animal feeding activity in areas they designated. Under the slogan "We Have Not Forgotten Our Silent Friends," students distributed food and water bowls, which they provided with their own means, to the streets, parks, and green areas around the school.
4. The mosque cleaning activity demonstrated both environmental awareness and respect for spiritual values. The event took place at Numan Pasha Mosque. Students gathered in the morning, took cleaning supplies, and carried out a detailed cleaning of the interior and exterior areas of the mosque. Carpets were vacuumed, windows were wiped, shoe racks were organized, and ablution facilities were disinfected. The event concluded with a commemorative photo.
5. A group of male students carried out a cleanup effort in the garden of the student dormitory where they reside, demonstrating both their environmental sensitivity and their responsibility for the areas they live in.
6. The students undertook a colorful and educational project by painting the hallways and floors of Mehmet Pasha Primary School with a seasons theme. The activity, carried out under the slogan "Every Season a Color, Every Color a Hope," created both a visual feast at the school and developed the students' manual skills and sense of cooperation. Within the scope of the event, the school's four separate floors and corridors were designed according to spring, summer, autumn, and winter themes. Students drew and painted figures reflecting the seasons on the walls, such as trees, leaves, snowflakes, the sun, and flowers. Every floor was equipped with special designs reflecting the colors and atmosphere of that season.
While wishing these activities to continue and increase in the coming semesters, we sincerely thank all our students who embraced the projects for their efforts and sensitivity.
