Our Forestry Department Students Conducted the First Application of the “Field Exercises” Course.

The second-year students of our Vocational School's Forestry Department, under the Forestry and Forest Products Program, are reinforcing their theoretical knowledge through field applications. The field application held on April 19 was attended by Head of the Forestry Department Lecturer Dr. Cemile ÇAKIR, Vezirköprü Forest Management Deputy Director Ali SÜRMEN, Forest Chiefs Oğuzhan CİNDORUK, Ahmet ÇELİK, Ekin AKÇAY, M. Musab PARLAK, Mine ÇORUH, Ramazan ATAR, Forest Rangers, other management staff, and 2nd-year forestry department students.
First, at the Fire First Intervention team building located within the Forest Management Directorate, the fire engine (Arazöz), the clothing of fire workers, and the tools used in forest fires were introduced. Students were informed about fire safety routes and fire ponds located in fire-sensitive regions. At the Dümrek Fire Lookout Tower, students were informed that 24/7 surveillance is conducted during the fire season and that the tower plays an effective role in first response. Afterward, students were briefed on the Biological and Biotechnical control methods used against forest pests. They visited the Seed Orchard, located within the boundaries of the Dümrek chiefdom, where high-quality seeds are produced to pass on our country's values to future years. Students were informed about the establishment and operation of the seed orchard.
Finally, at the Vezirköprü Central Depot, information was provided on depot operations, the ledgers kept in the depots, and the processing of incoming forest products (emvals). The program concluded after a group commemorative photo was taken.
