Career Days at Vezirköprü Vocational School: The Architectural Identity and Historical Fabric of Ghent Discussed

As part of the Career Day events organized at our Vocational School, a comprehensive seminar focusing on the architectural identity of the city of Ghent was conducted by Lecturer Dr. Merve Gerçek from the Department of Design.

Ghent’s Architectural Heritage and Urban Identity Discussed

In the seminar, the deep-rooted historical fabric of the city of Ghent, Belgium, was examined in detail through its Gothic and Art Nouveau heritage. Throughout the event, Ghent’s urban memory from the Middle Ages to the present was evaluated within the framework of facade culture, public space designs, and its artistic atmosphere. A sharing process that created awareness on the topics of city reading, architectural narrative, and urban identity was experienced by the participating students.

The program was attended by the Director of Vezirköprü Vocational School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Afitap Özdelikara, academic staff, and students. At the end of the event, a plaque prepared by the Department of Design was presented to Lecturer Dr. Merve Gerçek for the valuable information and contributions she provided.
