An awareness training on **"ORGAN DONATION and TISSUE TRANSPLANTATION"** was organized for our Vocational School students in collaboration with the Samsun Regional Coordination Center for Organ and Tissue Transplantation and the Vezirköprü District Health Directorate Organ Donation Unit.
Organ Transplant Coordinator Gülen Kurt Bulut, who participated as a speaker in the event attended by our Vocational School staff and students, provided explanations on many topics, including general issues regarding organ transplantation and donation, which organs and tissues can be transplanted in our country, the place and history of organ transplantation in legal legislation, the meaning and causes of brain death, the differences between brain death and a vegetative state, who decides on brain death, the religious compliance of organ donation, who can donate, the general procedures for a donation to take place, and to whom and when the donated organ should reach, etc.
We thank Organ Transplant Coordinator Gülen Kurt Bulut, OMÜ Hospital Organ Transplant Coordinator Birgül Tan, Samsun Provincial Health Directorate's Fahrettin Bilen, and Vezirköprü District Health Directorate organ donation unit officials Dr. E. Okan Karamollaoğlu, Dr. Ayhan Arslancan, Kamile Hatipoğlu, and Birgül Eratlı for their participation and efforts in the event held in our Vocational School's conference hall on April 22, 2025, in cooperation with our University and the Samsun Regional Coordination Center for Organ and Tissue Transplantation.
