Theoretical and practical training was provided to the 2nd-year students of our Vocational School’s Forestry and Forest Products program by the staff of the Vezirköprü Forest Enterprise Directorate as part of the "Field Applications" course.

The training, held on March 11, 2026, was coordinated by Dr. Cemile ÇAKIR, Head of the Forestry Department. Participants included program students, along with Narlısaray Forest Operations Chief Dilek Ekici Aksoy, Central Operations Chief Oğuzhan Cindoruk, and their team from the Vezirköprü Forest Enterprise Directorate.

During the theoretical session held in the vocational school’s conference hall, students received detailed information on forest fires, firefighting methods, and forest pests.

Following the theoretical instruction, a practical application phase was conducted in the school garden. This session, which felt like a real-life drill, covered the following topics:

  • Firefighting: Introduction to water tenders (arazöz), firefighting tools, and firefighter personal protective equipment. A hands-on demonstration was given on how to perform the initial response to a fire using a water tender.
  • Surveillance and Prevention: Information was shared regarding the importance of fire lookout towers, fire ponds, and safety roads.
  • Pest Control: Biological and mechanical control methods used against harmful insects and diseases affecting forests were explained.

We would like to thank the Vezirköprü Forest Enterprise Directorate and its staff for their support and efforts in this training, which helped reinforce our students' professional knowledge.
