Warning from Vezirköprü Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Regarding "Account Leasing"

Vezirköprü Chief Public Prosecutor's Office conducted an information training for our Vocational School students against cyber fraud methods targeting university youth.

In the information provided by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was emphasized that fraudsters seize students' social media accounts with promises of "advertising" or "high earnings." Prosecutor Gümüş stated that these accounts are used as a "front" for illegal betting, qualified fraud, and cybercrimes, and issued the following critical warning:

"When you lease your social media account, you are not just handing over a username, but also your criminal record. You will be the primary suspect for all crimes committed through these accounts."

The seminar, hosted by our Vocational School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Afitap Özdelikara, was attended by our academic and administrative staff as well as students. During the briefing, it was highlighted that fraudsters create a false perception of "easy money", particularly targeting student groups to serve as a front for criminal networks.

🚨 Critical Warnings from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office:

  • Do Not Allow Others to Use Your Account: Leased accounts are used for illegal betting and qualified fraud.
  • Legal Responsibility: Claiming that "you were unaware" of the transactions made through your account may not exempt you from legal liability.
  • Password Security: Never share your social media passwords or verification codes with anyone.

As the Directorate of Vezirköprü Vocational School, we would like to thank the Vezirköprü Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for this critical information support.
