Vezirköprü Vocational School Students Raise Awareness for Children's Rights
Students of the Department of Child Care and Youth Services at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Vezirköprü Vocational School (MYO) organized a meaningful event to draw attention to child neglect and abuse.
The event, held for the sixth time this year with the theme "A Child's Right, Everyone's Responsibility," was conducted at the Vocational School under the coordination of Lecturer Osman Senai Doğan. In the event, which saw heavy participation from preschool and primary school students under the Vezirköprü District Directorate of National Education, various awareness activities were presented to help children protect themselves against neglect and abuse.
Within the scope of the event, efforts were made to provide children with basic protection skills, such as reacting when faced with an unwanted situation, seeking help, leaving the environment, and sharing their experiences with trusted individuals.
The program was attended by Vezirköprü District Governor Özgür Kaya, Deputy Mayor Mehmet Gülburun, Vocational School Director Assoc. Prof. Afitap Özdelikara, District Director of National Education Resül Özata, District Director of Youth and Sports Mehmet Uyar, and approximately 160 students under the supervision of 22 teachers from 11 schools affiliated with the District Directorate of National Education.
Authorities emphasized that social awareness is of great importance in preventing child abuse, highlighting the Vocational School's role in creating a safe educational environment beyond just academics, and stating that such events will continue.
