"The Reality of Artificial Intelligence" Symposium Held in Vezirköprü

Hosted by Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Vezirköprü Vocational School, and organized in collaboration with the Vezirköprü District Governorship and Municipality, the symposium titled "The Reality of Artificial Intelligence: Environmental Impacts, Future Generations, Opportunities, and Threats" was held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Vezirköprü Municipality Cultural Center Conference Hall.

The event was attended by the District Governor of Vezirköprü, Mr. Özgür Kaya, the Garrison Commander, the Chief Public Prosecutor, district protocol members, the Director of Vezirköprü Vocational School, academic and administrative staff, and many students. In addition, teachers and students from schools under the District Directorate of National Education showed great interest in the program, where the multifaceted effects of AI on today and the future were discussed.

A Multifaceted Look at the Future

Delivering the opening speech of the symposium, the Director of the Vocational School emphasized that artificial intelligence is now a concrete reality permeating every aspect of life, and drew attention to the responsibility of educational institutions to train individuals who will shape this transformation.

  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Uygar BAYRAKDAR: "Is Artificial Intelligence an Equalizer or a Divider for Children? Opportunities, Risks, and Rights in the Context of Typically Developing Children and Those with Special Needs"
  • Lecturer Dr. Ahmet Doğukan SARIYALÇINKAYA: "The Era of Artificial Intelligence: The Brilliance of Opportunities and the Shadow of Threats"

Gift Presentation and Acknowledgments

At the end of the symposium, gifts were presented to the speakers who contributed to the event with their valuable presentations by the District Governor of Vezirköprü, Mr. Özgür Kaya, and the Director of the Vocational School.
