Our Vocational School hosted a meaningful educational event on April 9, 2026. With the aim of protecting our forest assets and increasing social awareness in fighting forest fires, Engin Keleş, the Branch Manager of Fighting Forest Fires at the Amasya Regional Directorate of Forestry, provided "Forest Fire Volunteer Training" to our students.
The training was held with the intense participation of the Director of the Vocational School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Afitap Özdelikara, academic staff, and students. Niyazi Aksoy, Assistant Manager of the Vezirköprü Forest Enterprise, along with his team and Forest Enterprise Chiefs Halil Duman, Ogün Özdoğru, Güven Gülar, and Oğuzhan Cindoruk, contributed by providing technical support.
Theoretical Education: The theoretical part of the training took place in Amphitheater-III of our school. In this section, Branch Manager Engin Keleş gave a comprehensive presentation on types of forest fires, causes of fires, modern intervention methods, and the critical importance of being a forest volunteer. At the end of the theoretical training, participants were presented with a "Forest Fire Volunteer Certificate."
Following the completion of the theoretical education, practical field training was conducted in the school garden. With the support of on-duty fire workers, participants had the opportunity to closely examine fire trucks (arazöz) and other intervention vehicles, while the technical use of fire-extinguishing equipment was demonstrated by expert teams.
We would like to thank the Amasya Regional Directorate of Forestry - Branch of Fighting Forest Fires for sharing their valuable expertise with us, the Forest Enterprise Chiefs for their support, the Vezirköprü Forest Enterprise Directorate and its staff, and all our students who showed great sensitivity by participating in the training and becoming forest volunteers.
