ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Today, as the global economy rapidly digitalizes, financial instruments diversify, and reporting standards integrate on an international scale; accounting and tax management has become the most critical function for the sustainability of businesses. Recognizing this responsibility, the Accounting and Tax Applications Program within our Vocational School's Department of Accounting and Tax has adopted the core mission of cultivating qualified human resources who can adapt to the changing needs of the business world, possess high economic literacy, and adhere to professional ethical values.
🎓 ACADEMIC STAFF AND EDUCATIONAL APPROACH
Our program derives its educational quality from a strong academic staff holding doctoral degrees in their respective fields and contributing to national and international literature. Our educational approach focuses on imparting an academic vision rather than merely memorizing regulations:
· Lecturer Dr. Elif ENSARİ ALPAY; Holds an interdisciplinary competency with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Business Administration. She reflects her academic depth—particularly in "Corporate Governance", "Non-Financial Reporting", and "Financial Accounting"—into her courses. Dr. Ensari Alpay prepares her students for the future corporate world by instilling not only the chart of accounts but also the principles of transparency, accountability, and modern reporting standards in business management.
· Lecturer Dr. Gökhan SALMAN; Offers an academic perspective on the most current discussions in the financial world through his studies on economic theory and his doctoral dissertation titled "The impact of cryptocurrencies on macroeconomic variables". With expertise in "Macroeconomic Policies", "Inflation", and "Digital Financial Assets (Bitcoin, etc.)", Dr. Salman ensures that students become individuals with high financial literacy who can read global economies and markets rather than just bookkeeping.
Thanks to the combination of these two distinct yet complementary academic disciplines (Business/Accounting and Economics/Finance), our graduates leave with integrated competencies that enable them to analyze business management at a micro level and market dynamics at a macro level.
💻 TECHNOLOGICAL INFRASTRUCTURE AND DIGITAL COMPETENCY
Closely monitoring the transformative impact of technology on our profession, our department continuously updates its curriculum in line with the "Digital Accounting" era. Through practical courses held in computer laboratories, our students learn commonly used accounting package software, office applications, and all e-Transformation processes—including e-Invoice, e-Ledger, and tax declaration processes—at a professional level. Thus, upon graduation, our students step into the industry fully equipped to manage digital business processes without facing any adaptation issues.
📈 CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND VERTICAL TRANSFER (DGS)
Students graduating from our program with the title of "Accounting Professional Staff" have a wide range of employment opportunities, primarily in Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Sworn-in Certified Public Accountant offices, as well as independent audit firms, banks, insurance companies, and financial departments of both public and private sectors. Furthermore, graduates who wish to pursue academic and professional growth can transfer to four-year Bachelor's degree programs—such as Accounting and Financial Management, Business Administration, Economics, Public Finance, and International Trade and Logistics—via the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS), elevating their career journey to a higher dimension.
